Abayomi’s confronted with the harsh reality of being a military dependent after her father; a United States Navy sailor is summoned to a nine-month deployment leaving her and her mother behind. In this gripping children’s reality, Abayomi learns the true meaning of father’s sacrifice helping her with the difficult task of coping with his temporary absence.

Through a heart-felt tale of vivid illustrations, Abayomi’s Deployment Blues helps young readers cope with the realities of having an active duty parent serving in the armed forces. Through a look into Abayomi’s journey, readers gain an understanding of a parent’s temporary absence due to military deployment; gaining the courage to effectively cope with the prospect of a parents’ extended absence.
