Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Information for the business: Volunteer-run magazine
Design details: We want to print a map of London SE16 (Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, South Bermondsey and Canada Water) showing the key environmental resources in the area. We will publish this both as a stand-alone leaflet (4 sides A5) and as the centrefold of our A5 magazine - July edition. The four sides will comprise a cover, a map over the centrefold with descriptive boxes around the edge linked back to their location on the map and a back cover. We are developing an online map to compliment the leaflet showing many more resources and description of them so this design job needs to mirror the online theme and the rest of the magazine in which it will be located.
Target audience: Wide distribution across business, residents and visitors
Number of pages needed: 4
Content on the front/back side and body: Cover: photo and some text Body: Map and descriptors Back: text and photos
Ideas for the visual style: See notes below - magazine and website
Extra notes: We have so far delivered one issue of our magazine I Live in SE16. It has been successful and we are now planning Issue 2. Our existing designer is working on the magazine but they do not have the time to create the map pullout. The second issue is themed around sustainability and the map will be the central element of the whole publication. Find the website at iliveinse16.com and the 1st edition pdf is available on iliveinse16.com/lovese16 under the Magazine button. We need the whole magazine to go to press on 12 June so need to complete this design job in May.
