I'm after a set of illustrations for a management text book that I'm writing.
This set of illustrations need to bring out the individual in each scenario, so each illustration will introduce as to a new character with a distinct role in the getting the patient ready for the operating theatre. Need a mix of genders and races/nationalities.
1. To illustrate a patent being lost I the hospital as reason for theatre start time being delayed. Illustration of lone patient – unwell, maybe elderly with stick. Needs to convey patient could be confused /stressed / lost / worried. Maybe looking at a sign on the wall with directional errors in every direction.
2. Illustration of lone female surgeon. Probably identifiable as surgeon by mirror light on head and wearing scrubs. Not panicking but in a rush / ready to get started maybe walking / running past, maybe looking at / glancing down at watch.
3. Illustration of anaesthetist (doctor) looking bit worried. Probably similar looking figure to doctor, however with stethoscope round neck wearing scrubs. In the admissions lounge from the last set of pictures talking to our established patient, this time the patient has a long piece of paper (may old style computer paper with scribbles on it , only words readable as ‘current medical problems’
4. Illustration of our surgeon above, talking to our patient in his chair, trying to calm him down and get him to sign a form, our patient is clearly anxious.
5. Illustration of a very busy ward nurse. Maybe pushing a drugs trolley and holding a bed pan with the other hand. Just trying to illustrate a very busy nurse with multiple calls on her time.
6. Illustration of a theatre nurse, wearing scrubs, theatre hat, maybe theatre mask. Hurriedly moving a tray with a big pile of surgical instruments as if in a hurry to get them ready or sorted out.
7. Illustration of a nurse (bed manager) with a clip board, looking nervous next to a tall pile of cardboard boxes with labels that reads ‘fast self-assembly bed’
8. Illustrating the point of excessive time taken to fetch patients to theatre who are a long way away. Character here is a port pushing a bed, only part of which maybe in shot. May looking into distance as if looking for his destination a long way off.
9. To illustrate how lack of rooms or space can slow doctors down who need to consent/discuss with patient prior to surgery. Our surgeon and our patient as a couple dashing for a the door of just one consultation room that says free above it. The surgeon maybe with his arm round the patient dashing to make it to the room first. A second doctor and patient in a wheel chair are dashing to the sale room too, also trying to get there first.
10. Yet to be determined.
11. Final illustration is a group picture of all the key individuals (patient, surgeon, anaesthetist, porter, ward nurse, theatre nurse, bed manager nurse) all standing together celebrating as a team maybe group high five, or individual character celebrating together, so for example celebratory fist punch into the air, jumping – need to illustrate happiness and ideally a team who are working and celebrating together.

Hi James, I've done a bit of these over the years, but I would like to know if youre budget is per illustration or if its for the whole set? is this also colored or just lineart? What level of complexity?
