Experience Level: Intermediate
An exciting opportunity for an advancing freelance senior mechanical design consultant has arisen within a my company.
Essential Requirements:
Ability to produce mechanical HVAC drawings for domestic, commercial & industrial applications.
Be able to attend and manage site meetings with relevant contractors and architects.
Manage mechanical services design from concept to completion
Work with internal MEP Co-ordinators and installation teams to ensure services are installed to correct standards and specification

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Designing the layout of energy distribution, water pipes and ventilation systems, plus identifying relevant materials
Drawing up plans using computer-aided design and building information modelling software
Carrying out tests on systems and making changes to plans where necessary
Monitoring the installation of services and managing their maintenance once the building is completed
Ensuring all building services meet health and safety requirements and environmental legislation.
Negotiating contracts with clients, particularly in consultancy work
Liaising with plumbers, electricians, surveyors, architectural technologists and other construction professionals
Giving presentations and writing reports highlighting the practical implications of the architect’s designs
Promoting energy efficiency and other sustainability initiatives
Managing teams of people
Person Specification Experience
You will have: -
Completed designs using Autocad 2D
Supervised contracts and managed small projects.
Dealt with clients at a high level.
Worked to agreed targets within a commercial environment.
Qualifications
Minimum level HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services
In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering.
Must be able to work unsupervised to a high quality.
Able to design new systems and additions to existing installations.
Some knowledge of mechanical engineering and building construction.
Able to work under pressure.
Reasonable CAD experience.
Must be familiar with the general risks and hazards associated with building work including asbestos.
Flexible and able to meet tight deadlines.
Good organisational skills.
Must have reasonable understanding of construction and health and safety knowledge and legislation.
Must be able to provide evidence of relevant up to date CPD records.
