Description
Experience Level: Entry
A Client (building contractor) is making an application for “constructionline” and as part of this requires a BIM policy, with applicable supporting documents created to demonstrate.
Policy will require to be compliant with BIM level 2 of the applicable British Standards and PAS 1192:2.
This must not be a find online and cut and paste, but original work (although something from your own company could be acceptable) so nothing that can be found online and regarded as copyright theft. Also, any graphics or images etc included must be public domain and not be used where copyright exists, although can be recreated similarly.
Copyright and the ability to re-brand the document is required, with no identifiers included so the Client can brand it as their own internal document.
Software used is AutoCAD LT (2016) and full release, and drawings are currently undertaken as complete xref models with title sheet overlay’s zoomed up for annotation, and all layering is colour by layer and layers to the CiSFB convention and more aligned to the old BS 1192 (before 2007 version).
They do also have, though not used but should start using soon AutoCAD Architecture (2012). They also have Revit LT (2016), though don’t use.
Future use of ArchiCAD solo is being considered, especially with its BIMx facility.
Specifically, they require the following queries to be addressed:
Q2 Do you have the capability of working with a project using a 'Common Data Environment' as described in PAS 1192:2?
You will be expected to demonstrate that your organisation understands the concept of a 'Common Data Environment' as described in PAS 1192:2 and is able to exchange information between supply chain members in an efficient and collaborative manner. If you have delivered a project in this way, you may use this to demonstrate your capability. Your explanation should be clear and concise.
Q3 Do you have documented policy, systems and procedures to achieve 'Level 2 BIM' maturity as defined in the government's BIM Strategy?
You will be expected to provide evidence that you or your organisation has a policy authorised by the Chief Executive or equivalent and regularly reviewed. The policy and procedures should be able to be applied to both large and small projects efficiently.
Q5 Do you have arrangements for training employees in BIM related skills and do you assess their capabilities?
You will be expected to demonstrate that your organisation has in place training arrangements to ensure that its staff/workforce have sufficient skills and understanding to implement and deliver projects in accordance with the policy and procedures established to achieve 'Level 2 BIM' maturity.
Completed Construction Project Information Exchange (CPIx) templates referred to in the Project Implementation Plan (PIP), part of the BEP defined in PAS 1192-2 would be considered.
If this PQQ is for the first such project that you have considered undertaking, a training plan and evidence of how prior training outcomes in other areas have been assessed, would be considered.
Specifically, the following documents are required to be created:
- Answers to insert in response to above queries … Q2, Q3 & Q5. Answer will be yes to capability for BIM, the freelancer will provide remaining text and documents required.
- As noted above, or required to discharge query.
Its not my area at the moment, hence requirement. Upon satisfactory initial review, freelancer will be invited to submit invoice or payment milestone of quarter will be released, and the document will be submitted for approval which is anticipated to take 1 or 2 weeks, where upon after any corrections required, the remaining funds will be released, or if no feedback received, the entire outstanding.
Documents included for reference:
BS_1192;2007+A2;2016 collaaborative production of architectural, engineering & construction information CoP
BSI_PAS_1192-2;2013 specification for information management for capital delevery phase of construction projects using BIM
