Description

About us:
We supply reminiscence magazines called the 'Daily Sparkle' to care homes.
Design details:
We want to make personalised Daily Sparkle magazines. Initially we want 2 different template designs for the front cover masthead. (In future we may commission up to 30 designs with the chosen designer).
One design is for a customisable birthday edition and one for a customisable 'resident of the day' edition of the Daily Sparkle. Both of these designs are for the masthead space on the front cover (see attached image). The masthead space is 210mm x 40mm including a 5mm bleed. Both designs need to be cheerful and uplifting.
Design 1 - birthday edition:
Take as an example someone having their 85th birthday who is called Doris. The masthead needs to include a space for an image to be added - either a photo of Doris if one is available, or an appropriate stock image if a photo is not available. If the designer chooses to include the individuals' name and age, then these fields should be editable.
Design 2 - resident of the day edition:
Doris has been nominated as the care home's resident of the day. The masthead needs to include a space for either a photo of Doris if one is available, or an appropriate stock image if a photo is not available. It should also include the person's name in an editable field.
Our branding uses Pantone 117. Our magazine is a ray of sunshine into people's lives in care homes. The style is simple, joyful, and celebratory. The focus of these customised magazines is the resident that they are made for, rather than our company or branding. It does not need to include our company logo.
Things to avoid:
Older people and people living with dementia respond well to colour but the design must not be 'busy' as that can be confusing and irritating for them.
Target audience:
Our customers are the sons, daughters, relatives and friends of people living in care homes. It is the people living in care homes (the residents) that the magazines are for. They will mostly be 70 years old or over, and many will be frail. Some will have dementia.
Where the design will be used:

What software package are you looking for the masthead to be created for?
Andrew W.09 Feb 2018Hello, we could work with Adobe (eg. InDesign or Illustrator), Word or PDF. Thanks
-
Please can you confirm if you are able to edit a PDF or if would you require the mastheads to be in Word to be editable (add name etc)? Thanks.
