Hi,
We are renovating a residential premises 89 Heol Waun Y Clun
The premises is stone built farmhouse circa 1900 that had been extended using traditional modern construction methods.
The current stone walls are 20 inches thick held by black mortar
New extension added to the premises approximately 20 years ago is made from 4 inch concrete block construction with a cavity however the cavity remains uninsulated
We are looking for specifications and calculations on 3 steel sections which we believe will allow us to complete the renovation. These calculations will need to fulfill building regulation requirements. We have been guided by our contractor on the placement and use but are open to suggestions on whether we require steel beams and there specifications.
We have taken away the rear wall of the original stone building to create an open space between the extension and original stone building
We have left 600mm of the wall on each side to sit steels spanning the width of the building. One steel will be at approx 2.4m from finished floor level to form the first floor and the second steel to sit at wall plate level and provide support for joists forming flat roof and pitched roof structure . The width of this span is ...
We intend to use 300mm padstones to provide a bearing for the steel
We have excavated a test pit to inspect the depth of the stone walls. The walls begin 1m below than the existing floor level.
We also intend to put a 2 triangular glass at the gable end on the elevation fronting the driveway.
As we will be removing the gable end we wanted to add a steel column that would sit on the wall plate of the gable end and span a steel from this column to the other gable end to support the other roof is required.
I have attached elevations and pictures taken at the site.
I hope that the information provided will allow you to provide a quotation but If you need any additional information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards
