Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: More than 6 months
Review current policy, documents including fire risk assessments and arrangements.
Write a brief recommendation sheet based on current findings and historical documents.
Improve on staff posters and information. (Contacts, fire and first aid operatives).
Make some actions on previous recommendations with Company manager's advice/assistance.
Off the cuff thoughts based on the law often quotes to ‘regular’ review/maintain;
1. If the fire risk assessment is reviewed and the recommendations have been actioned. A manager can review once next year if no major structural change or movement. Therefore, an external private assessor will not be necessary. I would recommend every two years the Independent Assessment by your contractor and an annual check and review by your internal manager.
2. Apply the same logic to general assessments, legionella assessments and audit.
3. Shop managers and site managers should be experienced by working with the external assessor. Able to review document pages titled recommendations and request those to be implemented. Should be able to check once yearly that changes were made, are used, or not. Where they are not feeling confident. Then training;
4. IOSH managing safely online course.
5. IOSH managing safety for directors online course.
6. St John ambulance for fire marshal, first aid, Manual Handling.
7. ROSPA essential-skillz on Line COSHH, Manual Handling, fire awareness, stress, bullying awareness and so on.
8. Small shops with no working chemical, machinery or heightened safety or fire concern, should be able to complete a fire risk assessment alone by using a one time purchase of British Standards document, PAS79 fire risk assessment guide and document. An external provider to a simple premises should not require a paid for assessment every year. All you require is the person in charge of the premises to complete with confidence PAS79.
9. Arson, terrorism and heightened security concerns in the city. Simply an adequate means of instant contact with all employees - staff mobile phone list, held by agreed business continuity leaders, updated upon leavers/starters. A short list of approved text messages
