Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hi, I would like you to create a WORD document with information you will find on property website: www.loot.com
Simple document you will create will look like this:
URL website address
phone number from the ad
Copy of the Ad (Print Screen)
Example in attachment will show you everything.
Go to: www.loot.com / click: property
In the refine search, blue box, on the left side, fill in the fields:
property type: flats for rent
location: (postcode): N16, (nationwide): this location only
bedrooms: leave it as it is (skip it)
price: leave it as it is (skip it)
photos: leave it as it is (skip it)
keyword: leave it as it is (skip it)
Click: refine
Scroll down to blue box on the left "Show only"
Click: Offered only
Click: Private only
Click: Update results
Just above pink line on the right side click: Age
Click again: Age
Make sure ads are listed from the newest on the top to the oldest on the bottom.
Open word document name it Loot + current date example: (Loot 15 09 2011)
On top of the page write: postcode + type of property + current date example: (N16 flats 15 09 2011)
On the loot.com:
Click on the first ad
Click on the URL address line and copy it then paste it to the word document
Copy the telephone number from the ad and paste it in word document under URL address
Click Print Screen button to copy whole ad and paste it under telephone number
Go to next ad and do the same (copy to word: URL, phone, whole ad)
Copy only today's asd, yesterday's ads, last 3 days ads and last 7 days ads.
Once you finish flats from last 7 days do the same search for houses in the same postcode in the same distance
Place this search in the same word document + name it: postcode + type of property + current date example: (N16 houses 15 09 2011)
Once you finish flats and houses in N16 postcode do the same for:
1) N1, N4, N5, N 19, E2, E5, E8
2) N22, N2, N3, N6, N8, N10, N11, N12, N13
3) W2, W6, W8, W9, W10, W12, W14, SW1, SW3 ,SW5, SW6, SW11
4) SW20, SW19, SW18, SW17, SW15, SW16, SW11, KT3, KT1
Tip: in the location box write post code: N16 + below click: within 5 miles
this way you will be able to see if there were any ads posted for postcodes:
1) N1, N4, N5, N 19, E2, E5, E8
N22 + within 5 miles
2) N22, N2, N3, N6, N8, N10, N11, N12, N13
W8 + within 5 miles
3) W2, W6, W8, W9, W10, W12, W14, SW1, SW3 ,SW5, SW6, SW11
SW20 + within 5 miles
4) SW20, SW19, SW18, SW17, SW15, SW16, SW11, KT3, KT1
This is just one task.
Future plans:
This research to be done every 3 days
Research done every day
More postcodes will be added
More types of property will be added: (rooms)
- if there is no phone number please write instead of phone number: "mail"
- many postcodes will have no houses
- try not repeat the ads if possible
- any suggestions to make it easier and faster very welcome
Thank you
