General information for the business: support needed to build an access database
Kind of consulting: IT
Description of consulting work: Support to develop the Bwindi Multiple Use Database. The purpose of the database is to provide a central information portal to assist with the management of the Multiple USe harvesting. It will enable managers to store the different lists of authorised resource users in one central place and combine these with community monitoring of resource harvests to monitor the harvesting activity and keep updated with the actions required, for example renewing the identity cards and the MoUs. There is also the potential to link harvesting activity in the national park with data collected by law enforcement patrols on sightings of animals and illegal activity. The database will comprise three main tables. Each will have an entry form for data entry. The first table will contain fields on each MoU between UWA and local communities. The second will contain pre-set data fields on the authorised resource users. The third will contain pre-set data fields on resource harvesting, as monitored by local communities. The tables contain linking fields and the database contains pre-set queries, as well as enabling the user to generate their own queries. a full brief will be issued.
