I am looking for advice form someone who had built a business and recruited executives or advised senior executives on renumeration.
Situation is as follows
A client has been headhunted as an Operations Director for a boutique consulting company and will be re-structuring and growing the business and associates globally over the next 12 months perhaps also starting a new arm focusing on social enterprises.
The business currently has a £1.5M turnover and 5 full time staff and around 20 associates.
The client has been requested to propose a Salary/Bonus package she wants ASAP and there are also talk of shares.
So question you should help with are
1) What would be a fair salary/bonus package to request to start with for 1st 12 months. At the moment it seems around the £60-£65K has been bounced around.
2) If the company doubles revenue how would this change the salary package?
3) Bonus.. how would one structure this. eg £60k plus x%age of general business profits + x%of new business my client secures/grows? or a set figure eg £20K flat rate for year 1 if agreed terms are met?
3) Shares, would it be the norm to ask for shares AND bonus? Should she wait until end of year 1 and negotiate this as they expand. Should it be a small share at year 1 and after good performance increase this should a new business arm is formed/created.
I would prefer the above questions to be answered in a proposal type document with various scenarios and reasoning behind them. I am not looking for a legal document more an ideas of the general negotiation patterns.
Happy to answer more in depth before a final document of advise is completed with the person who gets the bid.
