Hello.
I’m contacting you as I think I need some help with my accounts this year. Firstly, I’d like to present to you some facts:
• I’m a new business and formed my company (County Tutors Ltd.) in January and started invoicing in March 2015.
• I’m a private tutor and the business has been set up as a private limited company with me as director.
• Unsure of current annual turnover as the business is quite seasonal, but forecast to be less than £25,000pa.
• I have kept rough records of finances but haven’t been as diligent as I could have been.
• Business model quite simple. Main expenses include mileage and monthly outgoings like website and books etc.
o However, I have acquired some equipment for this business e.g. laptop, microphone, other electrical equipment, tables and chairs etc and don’t know how to record this (asset or expense).
I received an email a while ago explaining that although my company tax return isn’t due for a while yet, I would need to do a personal tax return really soon. Is this true? I would need some further direction with this.
I’d like to keep track of everything very strictly from now on, so would also value any tips you have for keeping track of any expenses on the go.
Please get back to me when possible. Am looking to get started right away so I’d like to discuss options and your rates.
