Description
Experience Level: Entry
UK based qualified Accountants ONLY!
I run two companies one is a construction start-up which is VAT registered and one is not VAT registered and sells pet products e-commerce on Amazon and eBay etc.
Traditionally I have run my e-commerce books on an excel spread sheet and used to just hand that over to an accountant who charged me a flat rate of £100.00 to do my corporation tax. I have definitely outgrown that and need to put a proper system in place now, especially for my VAT registered company.
I have just filed an incorrect VAT return as it was quite complicated due to EU travel and I even missed some transactions - I believe this can be corrected with MTD easily.
New to QuickBooks but so far I have started with my VAGT registered construction company and compiled all my receipts, invoices etc and I'm going to scan them in as attachments for each transaction. I have added my historical transactions in, about 50 or so.
Hopefully I set the VAT rates up correctly for Estonia and Poland... I may have set the initial directors loan incorrectly, so far made no provision for start-up equity or directors loan repayments. Everything else has been pretty straight forward. Please find an outline of what I require.
Construction Company:
1. Initial set up and clean up - check I have set up everything thus far correctly and check all transactions one by one that I am entering things correctly - correct me if I have done it wrong. I’d like to do this face to face if possible over a coffee so that I can learn how to log things correctly going forward (I will travel to you). Along with this correction of the past VAT returns - which I believe is done through MTD?
2. Going forward - check everything I have logged each quarter for my VAT returns.
3. Annual Accounts
e-Commerce
1. Support in the set up of historical values as a starting point. I have last years submitted accounts available.
2. I will import in all my transactions for this current tax year – my year starts in November. Then I would like a full detailed review of what I have entered and for you to correct any mistakes I have made. So far there are about 2000 transactions in my excel file for this tax year - the bulk being an individual eBay sale or postage payment, amazon sale etc. Other than that I have maybe 1 invoice a month, several expenses and 3 purchases.
3. Annual Accounts
4. Self-Assessment Tax Return.
If you can outline costs for this that would be really appreciated.

Dear Richard,
In which part of the country are you based. Considering you would like to travel for the face to face meetings.
