Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I found my current accountant on PPH but sadly, he's leaving to focus on a career with a larger accountancy organisation. As such, I need a new accountant for two limited companies and my personal taxes.
Company #1
--
The first business is pretty straightforward. I work as an IT Contractor through a limited company. My finances are very straightforward and we have a great system setup with Xero. There are no cash transactions in this business and 90% of all income generated comes from a single client each week. I'd guess there are around 20-30 transactions per month to handle. This business is registered for VAT.
Company #2
--
My wife runs a tutoring company. This business is a little more complex as there are around 60 customers and 9 contract tutors to deal with (no payroll). I'd guess there would be around 45-60 transactions per month but again, this business is setup in Xero and we'd like to continue using it if possible. This business is not registered for VAT but likely will be trading at that level in 12 months or so.
Personal Tax
--
As part of his annual service, my accountant handled my personal income tax return as well. As this is my wife's first year of trading, she'll also have to file one in 2019.
What I Need (Ideally0
---
* Bookkeeping for the two companies through Xero.
* Quarterly VAT returns for my ltd company.
* Annual corp tax returns for the two ltd companies.
* Personal tax returns for me and my wife.
* Bonus: Anyone with any experience of the R&D tax relief scheme for ltd companies.
Budget
--
My current accountant is cheap but has done a great job for my business. I've been paying him £40/month per company. I'd like to continue with someone at this level and ideally on a fixed monthly retainer, but would be happy to spend more if you could convince me that I needed to.
Location
--
I'm based in Manchester. In the 3 years I've worked with my current accountant, I've met him once and spoken on the phone a handful of times. I'm not fussed about where in the UK you are but do ask that you're responsive to email.
