I would like advice on registering a trademark for my business in Australia. The company name is eTourism Pty Ltd. I tried registering the trademark about 6 years ago and was rejected on the grounds the word tourism is commonly used, the e represents electronic, therefore it's a common word. I cannot find this advice.

I have been told by a friend at the time who was a trademark lawyer that he would be able to get around this and get the registration through - I never moved forward with this.

I've also been told that registering an image mark on my logo would give me some protection around the use of the word.

Our corporate website is - we provide website design and marketing services to the tourism industry.

How would you like to handle this... I pay you to provide advice or simply pay you to make the application on my behalf?

Best regards,
Bryan Marsh
