Experience Level: Intermediate
The job: Help a freelance PR consultant stay on top of the timelogging that forms the basis of the billing and CPD (continuing professional development) training record.
Key skills needed: Excel spreadsheet, good verbal and written English, attention to detail and reliability.
Ring once a week (ideally on Skype) at agreed times and tease out the details of what's been done.
You do that by prompting me to tell you by going through the diary, Outlook Journal log of files opened plus sent emails. You take notes then log the time I spent on each client's work or on my CPD training in an Excel spreadsheet. We use simple headings (client task description time logged in 5 min chunks). The description of each is a 1 sentence/phrase descriptions agreed verbally with me.
Then send me the updated spreadsheet every week within 48 hours of the phone call.
The work usually takes about half an hour to one hour a week as there's not a huge amount of data and quite a lot is repetitive, so can be copied and pasted. The main thing is to do it regularly and stay on top of it.
