Meet Ruman, a level 4 freelancer in mobile application development for both platforms iOS and android and a graphic designer too!
Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you get into freelancing?
I have always been keen to learn about new technologies. I started off by doing the following:
- Graphic design
- Web design, development
- Video editing
- Android mobile application development
- UI design
I learned by practicing and developing, which made me confident and positive about this career. I started taking interest in how to earn from my skills. I tried different platforms before joining PeoplePerHour. During the first week, I got my first client. It was quite a struggle but I succeeded and got a job as an iOS app developer. I realised I could make more money compared to a regular job so I decided to leave and become a full-time mobile app developer and designer.
What was your previous job before deciding to go freelance?
I previously worked as an iOS application developer and learn a lot from there, but I want to learn new things that’s why I left that job and started freelancing.
How did you come across PPH?
When I began my search for how to earn money online I came across the term called ‘freelancing’. After reading all about it including customers comments and reports I became certain that was what I wanted to do, especially as PeoplePerHour was popular and was highly recommended and reliable.
What was your first job like on PPH?
I was very happy when I got my first job as it was related to graphics design; I was really good at it and also enjoyed it. It wasn’t much of a challenge, but I was motivated and gradually I started to give myself goals to achieve and to move onto bigger things, such as the mobile application development.
What is a typical day like for you?
Since I am a morning person I wake up early – around 6am – and go for a walk. I come back and have breakfast then set myself up to complete the current projects I’m working on. I also like to go on long rides on my bike.
How does freelancing compare to a 9-5?
Freelancing is very flexible compared to working a 9-5 shift. You can have the full attention and concentration on your work, you are working as an individual – you are your own boss and you can have plenty of time with friends and family as well as further studies.
What benefits have you found by using PPH?
There are lots of benefits using PPH; the system is rated first and is really amazing. Payments are transferred to your account instantly. There is no time limit which you have to follow or rush to complete a task. The deposit feature is good and also if you feature your profile, this helps your proposals. Overall I highly recommend PeoplePerHour to everyone.
What does your future hold? Where would you like to take this?
I will be expanding my business and starting my own software house this year; I will bring video animations, game development, AR VR technologies mobile and web application development into my service portfolio.
What are your top 5 tips for freelancers who are new to PPH?
- Be yourself, only promise to do things in which you are confident doing, making you the expert.
- Always give something extra to your client. Give him/her something extra so you will get a nice review and rating there may a chance that he/she become your long-term client.
- Always aim to complete your project before the deadline. Ask your client to test it before marking the job complete and to find out any room for improvement.
- Be polite, if you get into trouble or you’re unsure and need some guidance and support PeoplePerHour are there to help you.
What are your top 5 tips?
If you are a UI designer, give multiple concepts of design so your client will have a range of designs to choose. If talking about development give your client unlimited revisions and supporting services.
What web browser do you use?
If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
Falcon; they live on the highest mountains and I love heights! I would be free and able to have the view as they have.
