Introducing our new and reduced fees

Reader, we’ve got some exciting news!

We are extremely proud of our community and want to offer you the best value for money possible. So for the last few months, we have been working behind the scenes and gathering feedback to find out what matters the most to you.

After careful consideration and lots of listening, we are delighted to announce a new and improved fee structure.

Less commission for us, more profit for you

It’s extremely important to us to reward loyalty, motivate our community and ensure that your voices are heard. Take a look at the chart below to see how our new rates provide more value and profit for you, helping you to gain more business and get the most out of our platform.

By halving our 20% commission bracket from £500 ($700 / €600) to £250 ($350 / €300) we’re making it even easier for you to earn more money on our platform with repeat buyers and providing the motivation to build longer lasting relationships.

An example of how our new fees can benefit you

Rosa designs a website for a buyer and charges £500. She is charged 20% fees on the first £250 and 7.5% on the remaining £250. So, in total Rosa will pay £68.75 in fees.

If Rosa was still working to the old fee structure, she would be charged £100.

Now, with the new structure any additional work with the same buyer will incur a fee of 7.5%. So, if Rosa builds up a relationship with the buyer and does another £500 job, she will only be charged £37.50. This is a saving of £31.25 on the old fee structure.

A message from our Chief Product Officer

Our Chief Product Officer, Spyros Lambrinidis says, “We have listened to the voice of our freelancers and responded with a new and improved structure that rewards loyalty, increases freelancer profit and encourages repeat relationships between buyers and sellers. The more we can do to prove our appreciation for our community the better, and this is just the start of our ongoing commitment to improve the PeoplePerHour experience and become the best platform we can be.”

The lowest freelancer fees in the business!

Our new fee structure provides more value for money than Upwork or Fiverr. At the time of writing,  Upwork charge 20% on the first $500 with repeat buyers which drops to 10% after and Fiverr charge 20% fees across the board.

Keep on keepin’ on

We want to empower you to live your work dream and get the very best out of our platform. Continue growing your freelance empire by posting an offer or re-connecting with a buyer today.

This is great news, but why didn’t you introduce this payment structure in the first place (last Summer)? Its going up and down like a yo-yo! Thank you anyway. 🙂

Natalie

Hello Martin. I honestly understand your concern. Since we changed our fees last summer, as you can imagine, we got a lot of complaints from our freelancers. This time we decided to listen to our community and work for them helping you live your work dream. Hopefully, this new fee structure will help and motivate our community to create sustainable relationships with buyers. We shall not proceed with the yo-yo effect anymore, that we can guarantee! Thank you for your feedback, it means a lot to us as our main purpose is to put a smile on our user’s faces… Read more »

Good move. Hopefully you’re doing the same to market the platform to ensure there are always clients to buy our services. That way you can still go on making more, even as you slash the fees.

This is the great news for the day. It’s a great way to build a strong relationship with our regular clients. It would be so humble if you make chargeless transaction for international bank transfer.
Thank you anyways.

This is just amazing. I hope this was implemented a bit early when I had a line of repeated customers. I have used other freelancer websites and switched to People per hour, for this reason, they value the freelancers as a family. Thank you.

It’s really great! But I worked up to $700 with a client and she is my permanent client. I didn’t see the reduced fees. Still, get 20% off from me.

Hello Sabirul. Thank you for your message. The new fee structure went live yesterday, therefore, as of yesterday, any new invoice you raise with this buyer you will be charged 7.5%. Thank you!

Used to pay 15% for the first £175 every month and 3,5% after that , so this not good news, we the old fee structure back, very simple.

And remove the Buyer fee, why the buyer should pay 10% too.

Naweed Shams
Naweed Shams

Great move guys! I just wish you could add a note to the buyer about the 10% invoice fee. 99% of the time buyers are unaware about this and it falls negatively on us freelancers because we’re not aware of this extra hidden fee.

Natalie
Natalie

Hello Naweed and thank you for your useful feedback. We are currently working on our new checkout pages allowing our buyers to have a clear understanding of how our fees work, how much we charge, ect. I can understand this may not have been very clear in the past but we are proceeding with some changes!

A step in the right direction, but 20% is still far too high for an initial project. I would like to see all fees at a flat rate of 5%. I do suspect you’d get more freelancers and customers that way. I really like working through this platform but the fees mean I am having to do the bulk of my freelancing work elsewhere as it is just not sustainable for me to be charged 20% on every new project.

Gadi
Gadi

OK, this is good news and somewhat reversing the bad news you gave us last year with the cancellation of the legacy fee scheme. You definitely offer lower seller fees than the competition, cheers for that, but where are the buyers?! Since last year, there has been a huge decline in business for me like many other veteran sellers on PPH platform after years of growth and this has never been fixed. Two additional comments for you to fix PPH people: 1) You pop the T&C for all of us to approve, before clicking “ACCEPT” I actually started reading at… Read more »

Hello Gadi, thank you for your structured and useful feedback. I can understand your concern about buyers and I would like to inform you that we are currently working on some changes in that field as well. Our main purpose is, indeed, to help our freelancers live their work dream and, on the other hand, we also want to establish a safe platform for our buyers that will allow them to post more projects. I also agree with you in terms of bringing in more buyers and our team is working on this on a daily basis. Also regarding your… Read more »

Hi Natalie, thank you for taking the time to relate to the points which I raised in my comment. I’m happy to see the reported issues have been fixed. I have one more feedback for you. When you replied my comment, I didn’t receive any notification via email. I was only aware that you replied because I reloaded this page the following day, curious to see what others wrote here. It would be very helpful if you can fix the lack of email notification upon a comments reply. I’m looking forward for the day where we, freelancers, can really make… Read more »

This is great news! Thank you! PPH family for considerations. Thank You! to those freelancers family who initiated this moment. Hope so PPH family in near future will consider revision of fee structure of freelancers for all the buyer not just for the repeat business. Correct me if I’m wrong.. So, if Rosa builds up a relationship with the buyer and does another £500 job, she will only be charged £37.50. This is a saving of £63.50 on the old fee structure. This is a saving of £62.50 (£100-£37.50=£62.50) on the old fee structure not as £63.50. If I’m correct… Read more »

Any reduction in fees is great as the old price structure was crippling and has caused a lot of providers to have to strip back the services on offer. The continuous change is unsettling with all products on the site . I feel that you should revert back to the old way where the fee is based on monthly earnings. In my case the services I offer the client only requires once a year. It not until the 3rd year that I would receive a reduction in fee for each client.

Indranil Sarkar
Indranil Sarkar

The main set of problem still remains 1. Hell lot of job posting full of spams. We end wasting our bids. When a project expired we don’t get our bid back with no fault of ours. Technically it should be removed from the system automatically and bids been credited back.

I hope Rosa isn’t building the website as well, or at least doing anything that requires custom development. That’s the problem there. A gradual spiral of death of pricing instigated by your predictive costs for a buyer to pick from.

Has made the site untenable in recent years. I’m presuming your financial bottom line has been hit hard enough to partially backtrack on commission fees.

Good start , but for anyone long enough on the site – I was one of the first, it’s still a baby step in placating sellers.

Thanks
