"PR is a hard business to expand because everyone wants to deal with the key people at the top and at PHPR, that's me! So it's key that I delegate as much of the non Client-facing tasks as I can. And People Per Hour is proving a big help with that because it's such a flexible resource. We have a number of associates and preferred suppliers we use to create teams and handle bigger Jobs, and People Per Hour has accelerated that process for us. It is perfect for trying out new people without the hassle if it doesn't work out.
And everyone we've used to date has exceeded expectations.
We found Megan, who's now a regular team player handling our Client's media monitoring reports.
I also use Nadine, a VA from PPH, to regularly drag my timelogs out of me and type them up.
But there's a lot of smaller Jobs, both personal and professional, that collectively build up and become a hassle. You end up tackling them well after midnight when they've become urgent. Then you're half wrecked the following day. But PPH are taking these off my hands as well, and doing them better than I could because other people bring focus to the specific Job plus really useful relevant experience. For example, I posted a Job to contact all the care homes in our area to set me up with appointments to visit, so I could find a good home for my mother in law. I chose Lyn as she is a former PA to a care home director. She gave me a brilliant checklist that flagged up all sorts of issues I hadn't thought of. That really helped me sort out the services on offer. When she sent me my appointment schedule she also attached the official Care Commission's inspection reports on each of the homes I was to visit. From knowing very little about care homes, she put me into a pretty knowledgeable position. The cost was just £60, but the peace of mind it bought was priceless. My mother in law looks happier than I've seen her look in years."

As a small business my biggest cost is wages and I need to keep these under very tight control. I need to pay for Jobs etc when they have been completed, What I don't need is to pay somebody for chatting about how good a weekend they had !! I have not always agreed terms with the potential bidders for my Jobs however this seems to be no problem. I like the flexibility and the broad range of quotes for any particular Job from the extremely expensive to the very cheap. The trick is to discuss the Job with your bidders to ensure they know exactly your requirements , there are then no misunderstandings. I would whole-heartedly support People Per Hour in providing a service that is tailor-made to the small business entrepreneur."
