Press Release: London, 4 September 2008 – Online marketplace for services PeoplePerHour.com this week launched a new web 2.0 feature to enable individuals to collectively bid for work and collaborate on business projects.
Until now, PeoplePerHour.com’s 9,500+ individual service providers could bid for and work on projects posted on the site by businesses. The new technology empowers people to network, form teams, collectively bid for work, collaborate and share workloads, learn from each other and complement each other’s skills.
PeoplePerHour.com founder Xenios Thrasyvoulou believes the innovation marks the advent of social networking with a purpose. “The average Londoner now spends a couple of hours a week on Facebook, simply browsing photos of friends,” he points out. “It’s not hard to imagine some people choosing instead to put this time to good use and earn – at a whim – a few extra hundred pounds a month.”
The new function means businesses can now source and manage teams of disparate individuals with exactly the right balance of skill-sets – all through PeoplePerHour.com.
“It’s already common for small businesses to have virtual teams: a web developer based in India, a Croatian designer and an English copywriter, for example. It saves on cost and you access better skills,” says Thrasyvoulou. “Uniquely, PeoplePerHour.com now facilitates that team to form itself.”
