Our Story

How it all began…

In 2003 our Founder - Xenios Thrasyvoulou - then fresh out of university and totally inexperienced started a business whereby companies and individuals could outsource project work to a team of virtual assistants remotely and pay on a ‘per hour’ basis.

Three and a bit years later he had a vision of a better way of connecting businesses with talent online, essentially cannibalising his own business. Thus was born what was then ‘pa-per-hour.com’ an online marketplace connecting small businesses with virtual assistants through online bidding.

Six months later following the quick success of this model it was rebranded to PeoplePerHour.com and expanded to cover over 10 service categories and 30 sub-categories each.

Less than 3 years on, the business is now in over 150 countries, 3 offices worldwide and with a fast growing community of talented freelancers and small businesses who connect online.

Our Vision and Mission

Our Founder’s bold move to take his then ‘brick-and-mortar’ business online cannibalising itself in the process was underpinned by a Vision we carry to this day: that the way we work is changing radically.

Millions of people all over the world are offering their skills online either as self-employed professionals or as moonlighters working around their normal Job hours across geographic boundaries.

Thousands of businesses - especially at the more nimble smaller end- are waking up to the realisation that they can now tap into this vast resource pool using the internet and make both a huge cost saving but also access best practice around the globe at a click of a button!

'Virtual teams' of people across boundaries are being formed, hired and managed remotely more productively than ever before allowing businesses to reach new heights, be more flexible and agile and scale their business up or down fast without the red tape, cost and bureaucracy of traditional employment.
