Twitter Away

Any freelancer knows that self promotion is the key to success and if you want to find more work and get yourself recognised, then Twitter is a medium that allows you to do so. Twittering allows users to send a ‘tweet’ to their ‘followers’ of up to 140 characters. Up to now, it has been popular within the media and marketing sectors for online marketing in order to improve brand loyalty. Some companies use it only occasionally, whereas others Twitter on – hence the name. Twittering has hit the media through British celebrities using the medium, including President Obama, Andy Murray, Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry.

This is a micro-blogging service for anyone who has a phone or internet. That includes friends, family, and co–workers who can communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? It is a quick and simple method to basically (very basically) keep in touch and update. You don’t have to respond to any updates unless you want to. Users are in control of whose updates they receive and when they receive them and this allows them to step in and out of the flow of information as it suits.
