As mobile technology becomes increasingly sophisticated, it has been suggested that Internet resources will eventually be able to make use of up-to-the-minute-mobile phones to reach social networkers. This holds enormous potential for freelancers and job hunters generally for accessing work online via their mobile phones.
According to sector analyst Tim Barker who writes for the St Louis Post-Dispatch, most experts believe that mobiles will overtake personal computers in social networking, and it may therefore be just a matter of time before users will be easily able to access their favourite social networking sites anywhere. Already, dating sites such as mobile DatingDirect allow users to monitor their accounts on their mobiles 24 hours a day. Match.com also sends alerts to users’ mobiles.
Job and freelancing websites are expected to follow suit; eventually, buyers and providers on freelancing sites, such as PeoplePerHour.com, will be able to access and post projects on their mobiles wherever they may be - and receive the latest project alerts too!
Meanwhile there is still quite a way to go before mobile technology can take over, as experts need time to assess the capacity of the present wireless infrastructure to cope with future demands. Additionally, there are also a great number of personal privacy issues that need to be addressed too. |
