Cost savings and access to talent are just two reasons why small businesses may consider
outsourcing work to other firms or
freelance workers.
Jag Dalal, managing director of the International Association of
Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), said that the main reasons for
outsourcing include converting fixed costs to a variable model, access to talent, avoiding investment time, and ensuring delivery times by using experts.
He added: "Cost savings is but one of the benefits and in many cases it is 'cheaper' when you consider the total cost of service (investment as well as operational costs)."
The 2008
Outsourcing World Summit is set to take place next week, which will draw hundreds of
outsourcing professionals from around the world representing all industry segments.
Separately,
freelance IT workers are confident about 2008 in spite of the credit crunch, believing that their prospects are good, and their ability to secure outsourcing jobs remains undimmed.
