More businesses offer private medical insurance
Posted by peopleperhour.com - 08/05/2008 15:00
An increasing number of businesses in the UK are seeing the benefits of taking out health insurance policies for their workers.

According to Jonathan French, spokesman for the Association of British Insurers (ABI), more and more employers are using private medical insurance as a perk to attract staff.

"Increasingly employers are seeing the benefits of buying medical insurance packages for their staff because it's obviously good for the individual if they can recover and get back to work more quickly, and it's also highly beneficial for the employer to get their employee back to work more quickly," he said.

"So it's an important thing for them from a productivity point of view and that, of course, has knock-on benefits to the overall productivity of the economy."

The latest ABI figures show that the number of people covered by private medical insurance broke through the six million mark for the first time in five years in 2007.
