Freelance journalist Paul Smith has conceived the brilliant plan to travel across the world to raise money for Charity:water, using the Twitter community as his sole support. In a recent ‘Twinterview’ with journalism.co.uk he explained that he will be only able to accept offers of accommodation and travel from Twitter users without involving any third parties. Smith has devised his own rules for this trip which includes only being able to spend money on food and what he can carry. If he is ever unable to unable to move on from one location to another in a period of 48 hours, his self imposed challenge will be at an end.

The freelancer, who writes about media and technology for a number of websites, the Guardian, as well as for Iphone applications, is planning this trip not only to aid the water charity but also to raise awareness of how Twitter can make a difference. From his site, www. twitchhiker.com he will post a series of blogs, videos and tweets. Sponsors will be able to support him via http://www.justgiving.com/twitchhiker.
