Businesspeople offer advice to budding entrepreneurs
Posted by peopleperhour.com - 11/05/2008 09:00
Switch your phone off at weekends - this is a tip from a successful entrepreneur who believes that businesspeople should try to maintain a good work-life balance.

"I always switch my phone off at weekends," Goldtrail Travel founder Kadir Aydin told Real Business. "If you become a slave to your business, you'll totally lose the plot."

Starting up your own business can be daunting, but it is often inspiring to hear words of wisdom from others who have managed to succeed.

EquityFD founder Sarah Hunt reassures people that they do not need to have always been brimming with business ideas: "I wasn't the type of person who ran the school tuck shop when I was four."

Meanwhile, Will King of King of Shaves believes that an alternative approach needs to be adopted by small start-ups taking on the might of the multinationals.

"When you're competing with huge businesses like Procter & Gamble and Unilever, who can just throw huge amounts of cash at things, you've got to be something different," he said.

"You've got to zag where they zig."
