Until recently the BlackBerry has been the smart choice for business users but since the introduction of the Apple 3G iPhone with its easy connectability to business email systems, the BlackBerry has had to face some challenging competition. The highly popular iPhone, with its excellent music playing features, is all set to exceed sales of 10 million this year.
BlackBerry has responded to Apple’s success by recently launching its latest smartphone, the BlackBerry Bold, which is expected to challenge the iPhone and has even been described by some as the ‘iPhone killer’.
Now with the first BlackBerry Bolds on sale in the UK, it will be possible for on-the-move workers, such as freelancers, who wish to try the new model, to use their phones for working on their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
With its bevelled keys and unique keyboard layout, the BlackBerry Bold is comfortable for the palm and designed for thumb typing. Furthermore it has an excellent 480x320 LCD screen with updated icon layout and therefore easier navigation. Its music and film display features, on a par with the iPhone, are outstanding too.
The iPhone will no doubt remain the preferred choice for Apple users. But for freelance workers who are sometimes away from home, the new BlackBerry Bold may be the answer to heavy laptops and eliminate the need to find that often elusive Internet cafe.
