Title:Writer: Soccer content for world cup site

Location:Anywhere

Job Description

The job:

We are working hard to launch a soccer site covering the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. We need content written for each of the eight groups in the World Cup, as well as content for each of the 32 teams that participate:

- Groups: Approximately 320 words per group (one webpage per group)
- Teams: Approximately 700 words per team (one webpage per team).

In total roughly around 25.000 words (which I guess makes this a bigger assignment). To gauge the size of the assignment, I suggest we start off with focusing on one group (group B and the 4 teams in group B). If things work out as intended, we can than progress with the full assignment, i.e. the rest of the 7 groups and 28 teams.

Content and sources:

Attached is template for the two pages, with written examples.

Please note that I have written the examples myself, and I expect you, being a professional native writer as opposed to me, to make a much better job:)!

There will be some degree of research required to perform this task. Please factor this in when you gauge how long it will take you to write the content.

Sources:

- Please have a sound knowledge of soccer/football and an interest in the game. The reader should feel passion, and without a football knowledge you will not be able to write of parts of content.
- Other websites on the web, newspapers etc. Everything has been said about the World Cup 2010, i.e. there is no need to re-invent the wheel. I have supplied some of the sources I would use as inspiration in the two templates.
- We expect you to rewrite as much content as possible. The content should still stand out though and be considered unique. We trust your professionel code of conduct here.

Target group:

- Men aged 18-35.
- Football fans, and typical also gamblers.
- Primarily from Europe (especially UK and Scandinavia).

With the target group in mind, please keep a passionate and optimistic tone in the content.

Time scope:

- No hurry. If we can have the first group and 4 teams produced within 7 days it would be fine.
- 50% of content finished 3 weeks after starting up.
- 100% of content finished 6 weeks after starting up.

All of above are suggested time frames. We can mix things around accordingly to your calendar. Let me know what is possible here.

What I need from you to start:

- Please briefly summarize your experience as a journalist/web content writer.
- Please explain your knowledge on soccer and why you will be able to write some passionate soccer content.
- Please give your thoughts on how long you think it will take to write the content (e.g. I expect a team page of around 700 words to take me xx to finish), as well as a rough time frame.
- Lastly, and of course, your hourly rate:)

Note: Native English speakers only or alternative your foreign English skills are at their very best.

Any questions etc., let me know.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards, JWP

Hi Jonas Warrer,
I think this job will suit me perfectly, having written marketing copy for previous World Cup Finals.

To let me make a correct bid, please can you clarify whether this job is for the total 25,000 words, or only 3,120 words (Group B and the 4 teams in group B).
Many Thanks - Damon

Hi Damon,

Thank you for your fast reply.

Lets keep it to the 3,120 words for a starter. Do you prefer working for a hourly rate or for a fixed price?

I am open to both ways.

best regards,

Jonas
