Editor for Young People’s Careers website
My client is looking for an experienced editor to plan, create and manage content for a national careers advice website aimed at 13-19 year old school students.
This is a great role for someone with editorial experience in educational writing or journalism, who would like the opportunity to develop their own ideas and work as part of a small, friendly team. The business is expanding fast so we are looking for someone who is interested in growing their role with us as the company develops.
Main tasks include:
• Writing, developing and commissioning all content for Success at School including: conducting interviews; producing job profiles; developing useful how-to articles and features on a range of topics from CVs to the best homework apps.
• Writing and sourcing guest posts for the Success at School blog.
• Planning content schedule around key careers dates for schools and events.
• Recruiting, commissioning and editing work from freelance writers and designers, where appropriate.
• Managing social media accounts daily and leading social media strategies.
• Designing and producing newsletters and marketing materials.
• Ensuring the site is regularly updated
• Researching key words, building back-links and leading SEO strategies.
• Contributing to the site’s marketing and research strategies.
Hours: This is an ongoing role. We are looking for someone available to work at least 2 days per week initially with a view to increasing this over time.
Location: Work from home but ideally looking for someone based in or near London who can attend meetings with the team.
Essential skills
Previous copy writing or journalism experience
Experience editing and proofreading content to a high standard
Can work to a set editorial brief as well as independently research and generate ideas for content
Can write in a fun and interesting manner that will grab the attention of the target audience
Experience researching and producing SEO content and strategies
Experience managing social media accounts
Desirable skills
Working knowledge of Photoshop and Indesign and / or graphic design experience
Experience editing video and audio
Basic knowledge of HTML for formatting articles
Digital marketing experience
Previous experience writing for young audiences
