Title:web content scraper
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I want a person to either manually gather details from a number of public websites to be provided or write a page scraper & macro to do this.
I want the data to be provided in an excel spreadsheet and this excercise is to be repeated weekly.
I am not sure of the time requirements needed to do this work.
There will be approx 20 -30 sites to scrape from but one macro may be sufficient for a number of sites. We can however work our way up to that number
Once the site has been scraped as described in the brief attached, it will only need to gather new data on the sites from there on in.
I want the data by email in Excel format.

C. H. on 11/02/2010 19:44Hi There,
Can you please provide links to the websites that need to be scraped.
Thanks.
L. I. on 11/02/2010 22:00The posting has been updated to include a brief and example spreadsheet.

C. D. on 11/02/2010 22:28Has it Lee, where?
L. I. on 11/02/2010 23:14Must be waiting on PPH. I will send it to you.
P. B. on 12/02/2010 08:31There appear to be no attached files. A copy would be good. May I ask why PHP?, any scripting code can work on the desktop as an application to do the scraping. I've already got something similar which is written purely in Excel VBA!

Could you let me have a copy of the example as well please - I would like to see the scope before bidding
thanks
Alison
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
