Hello
We are a content development company and are planning to develop some online video based courses. One of such courses is titled "Audio post-processing and mixing for films" for which we need audio-video lessons. We have the course outline ready which has 22 lessons - each lesson being about 5 minutes in duration.
The main audio post production tools to be used in the course are Adobe premiere and Adobe Audition.
The 22 video lessons themselves should be in HD format and will contain your own video of delivering the lecture plus the screen recordings of whatever you will be doing on screen with the adobe tools. You can use a high quality webcam or iphone to record your own self delivering the lecture while you use any tool like camtasia to do the screen recording simultaneously. You will give us both videos and a clean audio recording of your lecture which you will record separately using a collar mic and an audio recorder.
We have a budget of USD 1200 for the presenter and developer for all 22 lessons. We will do the final edit of the course and also the text overlays, titles etc. You will just have to deliver 22 lessons with each lesson consisting of (1) Your audio recording using collar mic and recorder (2) Your video recording using webcam/iphone (3) Camtasia screen recording of your work in Adobe premiere and Audition
We will edit these 3 components and also add quizes, titles etc and make the final course. This is a work for hire assignment and we will hold all rights to the content.
Below is the course outline that we have developed. You can suggest changes in these too if your workflow is different, but we would prefer that we keep the lessons as given below. If you see some lesson where you dont have enough content or if you need clarification for any of these lessons please feel free to ask - we have some reference youtube videos and online content that we can point you to.
Needless to say, you may not use in your future courses, the same content as-is with the same lesson headings and the same examples that you will be using to develop our course.
We have many more courses in the development pipeline and are looking to develop long term relationship with good trainers who can design and execute such training courses for us.
Course content (Video lesson structure) for "Audio post-processing and mixing for films"
Workflow and approach:
1. Changing the paradigm - going from 'keyframe adjustment only' mindset to post-processing mindset
2. Organizing tracks for quick and effective audio treatment. What do you need from the video/picture editor if you are not the video editor?
3. Should you start with the dialogue track or bringing dialogue as the last thing in the mix - discuss both strategies
4. Difference between how you would treat audio in a 'dialogue based film' vs a 'voice-over based documentary'. Correlation of audio with the story.
Cleaning the audio:
5. Cleaning up - basic cleanup of dialogue track
6. Noise and hiss removal from recordings - quickly and easily, using algorithm based techniques
Processing, mixing and mastering the audio:
7. Basics of EQ
8. Using EQ to remove muddiness
9. Using EQ to make dialogue sit in the mix without clashing with other tracks in the mix
10. 4 step formula for treating audio to get good results more than 90% of the time
11. Normalizing vs limiting vs compression - An explanation of all 3 terms and their applications in different situations
12. Mixing fundamentals
13. Level automation to automatically make the dialogue stand in front of the mix with clarity
14. Ducking techniques of automation using side-chains
15. Using width effectively in the mix to enhance the moment of the situation in the video
16. Adding depth to the mix
17. Thickening the vocals
18. Using delay effectively with and without reverb
19. Adding the right kind of reverb in the right quantity
20. When to use reverb and when to avoid it
21. How to use a reference track to create an awesome sounding mix
22. Final touches
Please feel free to clarify if needed.
