Your budget seems very low for the project you describe.

Could you please detail the exact functionality you would like the website to have, for both general users and dealers. You also, have not mentioned an 'administration' area to enable yourself to manage/update the website etc.

You must have hit your head, £250 is a joke for what you want.

A basic site that will do what you want should cost more like £2500.

Is your low budget fixed?

Hi Trav,

I would be happy to look into this further.
However your budget is far too low for what you are asking for. As mentioned earlier, you are looking more in the thousands for this job.

Regards,

Rob

Hi Trav

First thing:

Have you considered an auto upload feature?

It seems to me that dealers (who are the real drivers of a site like Autotrader, as they provide the content and without content your site would not be used by the buyers) would not want to upload each car individually and manually as it would take too much time for them.

The Autotrader website probably has some way for the dealers to upload a whole bunch of car ads all at once.

The car dealerships probably log all their cars into their internal computer systems to go on their own website... it would be best to find out what the major software systems that car dealers use - as these software systems probably already have an automated export from their software to Autotrader to automatically create Autotrader ads from the lists of cars in the car dealers computer system.

Your website would have to offer a similar service in order to get the car dealers to use it, and therefore get the content necessary to attract the buyers to use your site.

Second thing:

How are you intending to make money from your website? Through taking a portion of the money from each sale? Or by charging people to list their cars on the website regardless of whether it sells or not? Or will the website be free for all to use and the money coming in from advertising on the site will be your income (in which case you want to have as many people as possible using the site, to drive up your statistics, so that more people want to advertise with you)? Each of the answers to this question means that the site should be designed a different way.

Cheers
Dean
