Description
Experience Level: Expert
This is a relatively small 1MB excel file. Almost all of the calculations are done on the Model sheet. I have two relatively short and simple macros: Moodys_New and SP_Tests that I want to run much faster. Both macros essentially change a couple inputs like Default_Rate, then Calculate the spreadsheet. They repeat this hundreds or thousands of times. I've been using an old i3 processor and just bought a high-end i7 processor. I thought the macros would run twice as fast but I don't see hardly any improvement. Am I using any particular formulas or VBA statements are that are inefficient?"
I'd like to walk you through the spreadsheet and macros and work with you closely on the phone to make this quick and easy.
Most of the spreadsheet is on the Model sheet. The inputs are in the top left hand corner. Then lots of repeating formulas for periods 1-48. Results at the bottom.
If you press F9, you see that one Calculation is almost instanteous. I’ve tried to make it as fast as possible by having the spreadsheet well organized.
The key Macros are: Moodys_New and SP_Test. In column AB, click the button “Moody’s Assumptions”, then click “Run Moody’s”. This will take about 40 seconds to run. I have a timer and the status bar show the time.
Or go to the S&P sheet. Click the S&P Assumptions Button, then click the S&P Multiple Runs Button. This should take about 26 seconds. I have a timer to show the run time.
