Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are an early stage start up, that is ready to launch our product, we are looking for someone experienced and talented to join our team to do PR.
The ideal candidate must have the following attributes:
1) Have experience doing PR in the British market, and a track record.
Due to a very small margin of error. This is ESSENTIAL and will make life easier for everybody involved. We require someone who can draft a press release, and get journalists attention through it. Having established relationships in place from previous experience is desired.
If you haven't got any experience at all, but think you can do this, please give us a good reason why by telling us exactly how you plan to approach journalists without an established relationship in place.
The candidate should show us examples of press releases that they have drafted, which have gone onto break into the mainstream press.
2) Strong communicator, and reliable when responding to messages.
Behaving professionally at all times is important to us.
If you apply and find that the project is not for you, please notify us, rather then holding the project up.
3) Awareness of social media trends.
By that having used Tinder, and competing applications (or at least very aware for why they are successful!). We need to work with someone who 'gets it' straight away. Ideally the candidate has worked on tech start up projects before. By that is aware of the concept of pre launch, post launch press releases and understands which outlets other spin offs break into. To name a few techcrunch, Cosmo, Elle, daily mail, independent etc
This is important, as it will help you pitch the idea in a creative way to journalists.
The benchmark for success is breaking into mainstream media outlets as our target market reads them, which in turn will allow us to generate traction. Given that our competitors break into them upon launch, we feel that this is realistic.
If you feel that you will be out of your depth, this project is not for you.
4) Open to signing an NDA. This is standard start up practice.
Upon being interviewed, we will need:
5) A written proposal (absolutely essential), which:
a) must be concise, and have a clear strategy in place.
Ideally we will want a 2 stage written proposal:
a) Outline
after interviewing:
b) fully fledged written proposal
My partner and I will then decide based on that whether or not you are the right candidate for this project. It will also help keep everyone on the same page with regards to how the PR campaign will be done.
6) Prepared to meet up with us for an interview
This is required, so that we can meet and show you the application.
We are not comfortable with dealing with freelancers who want to do PR for an app that they haven't seen. Which has been the case for a couple on here. Due to the serious nature of this project, we need to work with a freelancer who takes it as seriously as we do.
7) Be based in London
Regular meetings may be required.
If you are not based in London, at the very least you must be willing to meet us for a meeting, with the view to working with us remotely.
8) Help us develop a social media presence.
Facebook/Twitter.
What you will get from us:
- A working app , web site, and some guidance (not PR related - that is your job - just about the idea and overall direction of where we want to take the idea etc).
- Join a talented team. My partner and I have a profile in the tech start up world. We are both professional developers, and have helped establish/founded start ups.
- creative freedom. You will play an intricate role in developing our brand further and we will be reliant on your experience when doing this.
