Hi,
I have attached 3 sets of .txt files and the original Excel file that has the script. What we need is more flexibility including the ability to choose which columns are compared. It turns out that our users may use different formats for their .txt files. For example user#1 needs to compare column b, while user#2 needs to compare column d.
The other work necessary is formatting the compare tab for printing on a 8-1/2x11 sheet [US standard]. Please provide an updated estimate and approach to the work, and of course if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
many thanks
nick
Refine a VBA script to include new formatting.
I had a previous freelancer complete the work of creating a VBA script that would effectively compare 2 tabs on an excel file. The script is working great but we would like to make a few refinements.
We need more flexibility on how the report is being generated from the text file it uploads.
The original job posting was:
Description of excel work: Currently using a home grown formula to compare a set of data in one tab vs another, a third tab runs a formula to compare if the data has been changed. The formula works but is "finicky". It can not take into account if a data set has been added or deleted, so all cells need to be shifted and the formula repopulated. We need a better way to create this "change report"
Design and target audience: would like to have a clean user interface with instructions and have buttons to run function and generate report
Extra notes: I am happy to share the excel file to demonstrate
