Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: UK map to select and store postcode territories
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: One static page of a Magento site, it contains a retailer sign-up form and an interactive map of the UK.
The postcodes are 'live' buttons, when clicked they add the postcode to a database list which is saved with the Retail store's details.
The original interactive map was in html and .js it had 3000 postcode shaped live buttons but was too 'heavy' to run in a web browser causing frequent browser crashes.
Description of requirements/features: The map needs it's shaped buttons to be replaced with simple dots or to colour the text within these shapes to show they are on, off or unavailable.
There is a multi layer Illustrator file with postcode letters (SY1, SY1, SY12 etc), zone outlines and county outlines on separate layers. It's available in SVG and EPS versions.
The map does not need re-drawing but the 3000 postcodes need to be made into 'live' buttons either with a coloured dot or the three/four letter postcode text highlighted.
The map will need to 'read' from the store's MySQL database when a browser session is started, this will 'grey out' postcodes which are already assigned to retailers in the database.
The map must be compatible with touch devices, with pinch-zoom, pan and scroll - or a navigation bar or arrows can be used to navigate around the map.
Similar urls: imagemapster .js is similar but creates complex javascript due to the number of vector points in the outline of each postcode outline.
Extra notes: Please include the words 'This is not a google maps project' to show you've read and understood the brief.
