Title:Publishing help
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I have written 2 manuscripts (fictional novels) and have some ideas for another 1 or 2. I would like some assistance in trying to gain the services of a publisher. As I work full time and have limited knowledge of publishing I am looking for someone who can:
- assist with the process
- put together a strategy
- help manage the strategy
I believe I need someone with a familiarity of the publishing industry who can help find leads and assist produce the kind of introductory letters that might attract a publisher.

T. O. on 17/11/2009 15:40Hi Norm,
Would it be possible for you to let me see a sample of one of the manuscripts so I can see what genre and issues you are writing about, as this will determine whether or not I can help you. I am a ghostwriter and have contacts in the publishing world, but a lot of it depends on subject matter.
Thanks,
Tori
N. T. on 17/11/2009 15:50Hi Tori,
Both manuscripts are fiction and fiction is the genre I intend to work in. The challenge I have is that the genre I have the most work in is a bit hard to classify.
To get around this, my intention is to write a more conventional fictional novel (I guess you would call it a psychological thriller) and once established move back to the area I prefer.
Does this help you at all? If you would still like to see something I can definitely send you an example and perhaps an overview of the new piece.
Regs, Norm
p.s. I did have a contract in 2001 to write a non fictional working on forming a small global internet based company. Unfortunately this was cancelled due to the dot com bust
B. K. on 17/11/2009 22:09Hello Norm,
Would it be possible for me to also have a sample of your work. I think I could help you but need to determine the best way to go about doing so.
I have an MA in Publishing, 2 years editorial experience and a number of contacts within the publishing industry.
Best wishes
Bridget
N. T. on 20/11/2009 13:17I have been working with Peopleperhour to understand the process and it appears that I cannot contact anyone direct (in order to send emails with attachments) unless you provide a bid. I am happy if you want to put some sort of initial bid to get this process underway and that once you have enough information you can put in a more reliable bid.
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
