Product & Serial number validation online through php/mysql, access or excel

I need an online form where my customers will be able to check more about their product by entering two fields in an online form.
Once they enter both fields (say the serial number and product code), they will be able to get some details about the product (form validation and output).

It should be simple, fast and easy for an Admin person to update the 'database' of product information and enter the serial numbers. The 'database' can even be a google excel document or access database. The whole thing can be done in excel if you are a guru in excel - this would be very simple for the Admin (me) to modify and update it. Only thing is the web form which allows visitors to check on their product.

If you have a php / mysql script which could do this, then please suggest...but please keep in mind SECURITY and an easy interface for the Admin to manage the product serial numbers and information about the product.

I have played around with Google Excel docs and form validation is possible. I just dont know how to display a custom message.
So for example.. column 1: Product Code. Column 2: Serial Number. Column 3: Product Name. Column 4: Location. Column 5: Product Attribute 1. Column 6: Product Attribule 2... and so on.

Once Column 1 and Column 2 are valid, Then Column 3, 4,5,6 and above will display in a nicely presented table.

If this sounds like it can be done with Google Excel documents or similar... then please let me know. Also if you have a script - then i will be interested..
