Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am a model maker and I need a working 2D design, based on simple linkages that re-creates the action of an elephant's legs when walking. The main body is static and the head will be dealt with separately.
The model is not required to walk but a realistic motion is very important. This is for someone with ingenious skills (perhaps from an animatronic/mechatronic/toy design background) that can use a mechanical linkage programme (Working Model etc. ) to generate the necessary linkages and levers. I don't want a design based on slideways, cams etc. only points of rotation.
Each leg should be able to be driven by a rotary motion (separately if necessary) perhaps in the manner of Theo Jansen's well known mechanism. I will provide a drawing that gives the necessary shape constraints, extreme and intermediate positions (from Muybridges photographs).
I don't need any consideration to be made for materials, bearings etc....simply the mechanisms with dimensions. I have not put any budget/timescale etc. in this posting as this is open to negotiation for the right applicant.
