Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
General information for the business: Campaign organisation
Kind of development: Customization of existing program
Description of requirements/functionality: I am looking to adapt a database of accredited employers of a prominent UK campaign organisation for a new campaign site. We want to create a user-friendly map and search function at the front-end showing employers' addresses with special icons and textbox design (provided), + a flexible and user-friendly (import & export of large datasets, + manual input) Django admin for data management at the back-end, with a click counter in django admin tracking individual clicks on map markers.
Front-end
- Google map with potentially 1000s of markers, super-fast loading required.
- 3 different search options (by employer name, by location, by product/service) in same search bar, & 2 search filters (by different accredited status). Location search needs to include by GPS for smart phones & tablets.
- 3 standard maptile options, & (ideally) variable icon size by zoom.
- Robust testing of compatibility with campaign site (we can determine the brief for this), and capacity at front and back-end for high profile launch.
(Image files will be provided, wireframe available, some parts of the google maps code (e.g. quick load of high marker numbers) are already written and only need adapting.)
Back-end
- Flexible and user-friendly back-end for importing and exporting new data as .csv files, & a simple manual input method (ideally with auto-geocode).
- Dataset must be searchable by all categories (of which around 10).
- Back-end to include a mini-dashboard for a 'click counter' representing total clicks on map markers - shown by employer (which may have several addresses), and by individual branch/premise address.
This project needs to be completed by September 15th, though ideally sooner. Design details and dataset will be provided. Some parts of google maps/javascript coding has already been done and simply needs adapting. High profile, high impact project with potential follow-on work.
Experience in Django/Python, Google Maps API/Javascript & CSS essential
