You will almost certainly newed to obain an injunction to restrain the owners of the site from using your images/material - and possibly pursue a claim for damages if you have suffered loss as a result of their actions. This will require professional legal advice - and the back office solicitor\'s resources to process the applications and arrange representation. I mention this to save you time - and ultimately increased costs/loss should you plan to take diy action or be advised by someone without the necessary skills and resources.

Thank you very much for your advice. I appreciate all the help I can get with this. My hope is that a solicitors letter will convince the other site to remove the images. They appear to be a very small company and the financial impact of what they have done is very limited - it is more annoying than anything else.
Thanks again
Michael
S. J. on 05/06/2009 09:13With due respect to the previous post, Australian ecommerce laws may afford you broader international protection to your images, is your competitors website hosted outside of the UK?
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
