Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: I have 2 other successful businesses, but this is a start-up.
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: I am looking for someone to help me develop software for a "game" I’ve been doing with friends. Check out DietBet and Pact and it will give you an idea.
Brief version of the game: everyone “deposits” $30 per month. Everyday that you track your food intake through myfitnesspal.com you get a “point”, everyday that you meet your calorie goal you get a point. At the end of the month we tally points, then divide money accordingly.
You are guaranteed your money back if you get all 60 points, guaranteed half your money back if you get 30 points. However, you would usually get more than your money back. Here’s a brief example below…
Sally deposits $30. She has a great month and earns 55 points. At the end of the month she gets $44.55 back.
Eddy deposits $30. He has an avg month and earns 30 points. At the end of the month he gets $24.30 back.
May deposits $30. She has an avg month and earns 40 points. At the end of the month she gets $32.40 back.
Mikey deposits $30. He has a good month and earns 45 points. At the end of the month he gets $36.45 back.
Susy deposits $30. She has a bad month and earns 15 points. At the end of the month she gets $12.15 back.
We had a $150 balance. ($30 per person)
185 points were earned.
The pay-off was $.81 per point.
The difference in this & DietBet is that you are rewarded in 2 ways. 1 for tracking your calories in MyFitnessPal and 1 for staying under your calorie count in MyFitnessPal. The difference in this & Pact is that you play against friends.
The software would need to pull the data from MyFitnessPal... MFP records when you complete your calorie counting for a day & when you stay under your count.
It needs to take money from PayPal or Google Wallet or some payment system, You must be able to return money to them at the end of the contest.
There are a lot of various things I need to talk about adding or changing, however I am just wanting upfront thoughts & costs on this.
Extra notes: Like I said, I have 2 other successful businesses and am willing to invest in this new idea.
