Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
We are looking for seamstress who is adept at working with silk and is based in the Reading or London area of the UK.
The job is to cut and make silk scarves to order. To start off the initial job will be to help us finalise the design (finishing the ends and attaching labels etc) and then produce a small run of 10. That will be for a fixed price. If successful we may then place further orders on a price per piece basis (about 0-10 per month) - that would be arranged separately at a later date. The fabric is custom printed and provided by us.
The ideal candidate is experienced in working with silk and you will be comfortable with providing advice on finishing options like stitching, decorative ends, attaching labels etc. We are looking for someone who is happy to share their experience and help us improve our design, not just make to order. You will have a great eye for detail.
Ideally you'll live in the Reading or London area so we can meet occasionally at your place of work to discuss designs. However once the design is fixed further business can be conducted by post.
The initial job is in two parts:
Part 1 - help improve the design in terms of how it's made and finishing details. This is a long silk scarf for men so the shape is basic (long and thin). The key is to get the finishing touches right. We would like you to produce a simple pattern and production notes in case we scale up manufacture later.
Part 2 - produce 10 units as an initial run.
My partner and I are experimenting with new creative businesses. This is our second venture into independent clothing and fashion. The concept is to produce unusual and eye catching silk scarfs for men. Each print will be of a limited run giving it a unique edge. If you've got the right skills, a friendly approach and you'd like work with us to develop this fun and creative idea further, then we'd love to hear from you.
Attached pictures are show some of our current fabric designs.
