Job Description

I run a UK based operation providing all things web development, we have been working in IT & Internet field for 16 years and offer the usual mainstream development services, however a large part of our workload is offering specialist services that consist of:

* Programming and development to provide solutions to complex problems and bespoke requirements
* Rescuing partially built sites that have been abandoned by a client’s previous programmer
* Repairing sites and applications which have been poorly built by inexperienced programmers
* Extending and heavily customising the functionality of systems like:
Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal,Magento, OSCommerce, Opencart, Zencart etc

We act as a last line of defence for many Web Designers, Developers and Web Agencies who will draft us in to provide complex solutions which cannot be provided in-house or in urgent situations where a client’s previous developer has gone AWOL or is unable to complete a project.

We are looking for programmers and developers who enjoy the deep end of web development and relish the chance to roll up their sleeves and get coding. Projects will be based on an ad-hoc basis and this is an ideal chance to show off your skills while picking up some invaluable experience.

We'd love to hear from good all-rounder’s who have a grasp of all aspects of web development and not just the coding side, we also need developers who will embrace a challenge rather than back away from it, some of the solutions we need to provide are innovative and require a unique approach, sometimes we really do need to fit that square through the triangle.

We are interested in hearing from developers who are:

UK Based & Contactable via Phone & Skype
Reliable & Trustworthy
Full time freelancers
Good problem solvers
Security Orientated and aware of issues such as XSS, SQLInjection etc
W3C Standards Aware
Comfortable with converting HTML/PSD designs and working with CSS
Familiar with all the major Open Source apps that are in play today
Willing to sign an NDA

We work with many technologies but you will at the very least be proficient in the following:

CSS, XHTML, PHP, XML, MYSQL, Apache, Windows Server, URL_Rewriting, SEO Coding Techniques

If you have experience of other languages such as .NET, ColFusion etc this would be advantageous but not essential.

The type of projects you will be working on will vary, there will be an element of straightforward projects but be aware that due to the nature of our services some projects may require problem solving, repairing of sites and extensions to functionality of open source systems along with working with or creating 100% bespoke applications.

All bids will be considered so even if you don’t have a lot of commercial experience yet or are looking to increase your profile and workload, as long as you think you fit the criteria feel free to bid.

In the first instance please enter a 'rough guide' price as your bid and timescale for the following type of work:

"Install and configuration of Magento, conversion and installation of custom HTML design, css and jquery sliders into Magento template & layout, configuration of plugins."

If you work on a price per hour please mention your rates in your bid – we are looking for just a guide to your charges and you will be asked to quote properly for each project so just looking for “rough” ball park cost and timescale estimates.

Upon being shortlisted you will be sent a full brief for the first project (vaguely described above), be asked to agree a final quote and amend your bid via PPH if needed, all future projects and quotes will be agreed via PPH and you will asked to invoice us via PPH for any future work that you complete.

Also in your bid please provide examples of your past experience / work - if you wish to send a CV this is great but not essential - with reference to the type of work we do if you have experience in these areas or feel that you could provide a good set of skills to compliment this work please let us know.

And finally remote working is completely fine, we just need you to be easily contactable and UK based. We also appreciate that you will be fitting our stuff in with your other clients and workload which is fine, we just need to be able to agree and stick to timescales and know that if we need to get hold of you in a hurry we can.
