Title:fire safety design spreadsheet
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I have developed an excel spreadsheet to assist in the fire safety design of buildings. The spreadsheet functions as required but I need the layout and format tidied up as it is very basic.
I need someone with the skills to give it a professional appearance as I would like to embed it onto my website to attract visitors. I also need protection built in so that it could not be downloaded or copied without my permission.
There is potential to develop this as an iphone app which I am happy to explore with suitably skilled bidders under a separate contract.
This work would be awarded on the basis that I retain full rights and ownership of the program and that no part of it can be re-used or re-sold.

B. F. on 11/03/2010 10:46The work appears to be conversion of the spreadsheet into a form driven application, rather than embedding of the actual sheet.
Can you give a brief description of the spreadsheet's functionality? Does it calculate values? Does it format results? As a user, how would I know if I had used it successfully?

S. L. on 13/03/2010 01:56 Thank you for your response. The spreadsheet is based upon a British Standard for fire Safety in the Design of Buildings. The user is asked to enter a number of values, either numerical or descriptive. All of these values are inter-dependant and calculate a result - In this case, the number of people who can safely occupy a building and evacuate it the event of a fire. There are minimum / maximum values that can be input and the calculated figure must be within required tolerances to be correct - this is how the user knows that they have used it properly. It does format results in that x = result then one set of of recommenndationare printed and if y = result another set are printed
M. H. on 15/03/2010 10:53Hello, it's hard to price this without a little more information, is there anywhere I can see a sample of the file? I'd like a bit more information about how you want it to look too. I'm very confident with the Excel side of it, and I'm happy to create dialog-boxes/user-forms to get information from the user and to present the results... but the website stuff depends very much on how the spreadsheet is going to be published - and this is not my field. Are you looking for someone to do both elements or could you have these two bits done independently?
