Description
Experience Level: Expert
This will be a stand alone batch job reading large, high dpi images from a source directory, finding the image within a uniform background (normally white), crop it to plus 1 pixel, apply the cropped image to a square canvas of color XXXXXX (usually white) sized to fit the largest dimension, then add a border as defined from the input form as a percentage of width and height to each side. This results in a cropped image with a user defined amount of border on each side. The final output consists of two resized and resampled versions to be written to two different directories. The final resized dpi and dimensions of each image are defined in the input form but will typically be 72 dpi 800x800 and 72 dpi 1600x1600 as an example for website use.
All input parameters are to be collected in a form and stored in a file which provides control to the batch job.
Step 1 Find the dimensions of the image by locating the outermost individual non background (usually white) pixel on all 4 sides and crop to those coordinates plus 1 pixel
Step 2 Take that image and center it on a square canvas X pixels on a side using the largest of height or width to define the square.
Step 3 Add border space to each side. The border will be specified as a percentage of height or width as defined by the input form. There will be individual percentage specs for top, bottom, left, and right so that the image can be positioned as desired on the canvas.
Step 4 Generate the two output images to final specs (typically be 72 dpi 800x800 and 72 dpi 1600x1600) with one image being X pixels square the other Y pixels square and saved to two different directories with the same names.
input files will be jpeg, adding gif, or png capability possible addon.
Can run in compatability mode in Windows 7 if necessary should be compatible with 32 or 64 bit systems
The ideal solution would be as a script for Jasc Paint Shop Pro or or a Python standalone if appropriate libraries are available but a stand alone run time in another language is acceptable
