Description
Experience Level: Expert
We have demographic type data for about 703 communities and custom geographies and more than 1,500 data variables for each in about 25 csv files. Each community or custom area has a unique identifier number. We need to create a report in a pre-formatted MS Excel file that draws all the data variables from the 25 or so csv files for one specific community at a time by identifying the unique identifying number to generate the report. The report is a pre-formatted XLS file.
Attached are the 2012 source files in one zip including the data mapping dictionary (short 8 digit code representing longer variable names). A second zip is a sample of the target report for Timmins, using the unique identifier code of 355602. These files are for 2012. The actual project is for 2013, and those files will be supplied to the successful bidder. Only a few minor changes to variables will be made in the 2013. The attached files accurately represent the scope of work involved.
We wish to be able to automate the generation of the target reports by simply entering the unique identifier code for the geography. We also need to be able to make minor modifications (to the tool developed) in the future in the event that data variable names change. Instructions to do so should be provided.
This is to request cost quotes, time required to complete, qualifications, previous similar experiences and references to do this work. Contact me if anything is not clear.
Clarification: I do not need to run reports for every community. Typically we might run 12-14 sequentially once per year, and another 8-10 sporadically throughout the year. I realize that the ideal way to do this is generate reports from a DB like Access except that we do not have anyone familiar with MSAccess in the office. So essentially these are one-off generations of reports vs. a mass conversion of all data into a report for every community. Will likely make a decision on proposal by Monday. Thanks, Eric
