Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: Small electronics/software development company
Num. of web pages/modules: 4
Description of every page/module: Home page: to have enough text to show what the company does, and look professional without trying to look like more than a tiny company.
About: Description of the company and services
Portfolio: To have one (at the moment) case study of an already completed project. Case study in progress.
Contact: Provide a form (with a captcha) for contact, along with the postal address/phone number and an email address (as a picture not text in case of spam - does that work?!)
Description of requirements/features: I have an existing website (www.asl-consulting.com) that I finished myself, based on a template made by a friend, and all cobbled together at the last minute. I would like a new, 'cleaner' more minimalist website with more space on the first page for a description of the company. I have found a template, called 'Purity', which I thought looked good, but it needs changes. I started making the changes myself, but realised I was getting out of my depth - I did however get to a point where I'd mocked-up a potential new site, and I've attached pictures.
I made a list of the changes I made to the theme as I went along, also attached, but when I got to the point where I knew I needed someone else to do it I just messed around with it until it looked OK so I had something to show and left it at that.
Extra notes: I'm definitely looking for someone who can add an element of professional design to this - just because I've mocked something up doesn't mean I'm precious about it, and I'm well aware that what I've made has an amateur look to it! Proposals gratefully received!
I would like to have a rough idea of what's been changed in the template, so that if something breaks (through a Wordpress update or something maybe) I can retrieve it (or ask you/someone else to do it for me.)
I've copy/pasted some photographs from photodune, but I'll go ahead and purchase them for the website.
One last thing - there's a menu that appears on small screens (the menu appears and the slider disappears) which always says 'Select page:'. I would much rather it said the name of the page you're on instead, since it's obvious it's a menu. I asked the theme author (who is very helpful) and he said it would need select_nav() changing in functions.php. If you can make that change also it would be great, but not essential.
