Title:Write and develop a 2 day mangement training course

Location:Anywhere

Job Description

Two-Day Management Training Course

We are a medical training company, offering career development courses to doctors. We are commissioning the development of a day's one & two, of a three-day management course, and are looking at providers to write and develop the training material (programme, pre course material, power point slides, small group activities, handouts and trainer manual).

This advert is for the development of Days 1 and 2 ONLY of this 3-day course. There will be no overlap within the content on any of these days.

The management course that we are developing will be as follows:

Day 1: Part of this project
Day 2: Part of this project
Day 3: Already written - not part of this project. Content already covers presentation skills, communication skills and interview skills along with NHS management topics.

We are looking for someone to develop Day's 1 & 2, which will involve writing a structured programme & incorporating the curriculum below:-

- Write the course programme around the curriculum outlined below
- Write the lectures based on the programme, and incorporate the content into Powerpoint presentations. These presentations must contain the key points from the curriculum and be appropriate for the time allocated for that session. Our company logo will need to be incorporated onto these slides.
- Teaching methods are flexible and can incorporate lectures, workshops, case discussions, break out sessions and small group tasks. NB The course will be delivered by a sole trainer and the maximum target audience will be 20 attendees.
- It is desirable that those attending the course have full involvement and that the curriculum is delivered in a fun and user-involved manner.
- The course will run between 9am-5pm on both days and will have a morning coffee break of 15mins, lunch of 45mins and afternoon coffee of 15mins.
- Naturally, some of the content would need to be delivered via lectures with time set aside for group involvement and group tasks to show, teach and reinforce the curriculum.
- Task-based small group training to highlight various aspects of the programme would be required in combination with some lectures.
- A detailed trainer manual would be required so that a trainer could quickly read, get up to speed and then deliver the material as intended.

Curriculum and topics that we would like to consider incorporating into this 2-day course includes:-

- Managing teams
- Managing conflict + personality testing
- Performance management
- Leadership
- Delegation
- Personal effectiveness
- Effective time management
- Communication and negotiation skills
- Business planning
- Developing a service

Please only bid on this if you have had active involvement in management consultancy and training. Preference will be given to those with a previous track record of management course development and delivery.

The material in the form of Powerpoint slides would be printed and distributed to each of our clients and therefore we would need to hold the copyright for the material commissioned. Simply rebranding someone else's material would be unacceptable.

The successful bidder would be required to be available via the telephone or to meet us, based in Oxford, to discuss the proposed course and to make changes and/or amendments of the material after we reviewed it in completion.
The project would be deemed complete on receipt of the programme, Powerpoint slides and plans for small group activities which would be detailed. Pre course preparatory material would also be suitable.

We would review the pre-course material, programme, lectures, handouts and trainer manual and suggest, after discussion, appropriate alterations. We would expect after these alterations to receive all material in proof read versions that are of a high standard and could be delivered without further alteration. We are proud of the quality of our work and would insist on similarly high standards for the course design and material.

This project does not include the provision of training however if we find that the project has been completed by someone who could deliver the material then we would consider entertaining further discussions as to contracting this individual to deliver the material. We aim to run this course once a month.

The successful candidate would need to communicate with us throughout the development of this training material in order that we can give feedback on the proposed material.

The time line for the development of this material is 4 weeks.

Dear sirs/madam,

The production of Power Point Presentation is no problem. However one of the \\\\\\\'unwritten\\\\\\\' rules of training by PP is that it is unwise and negative to deliver PP with the use of text only. PP is for the use of pictorial information coupled with text. Do you envisage the use of illustrations and if so where from?

For clarification, do you expect to retain copyright on this, or simply to have a licence to use for your own purposes?
The level of fee is only slightly more than I would be charging for the dtp/presentation/compilation of someone’s existing content.

Having done this (writing and/or dtp of mgt training materials at up to DBA and MBA level) very many times, I know that the iteration of drafts can make a project much more complex than originally envisaged. I would strongly suggest you break this project into two phases and costings • (i) development of content (which is inherently 'loose' and subjective); and when that is agreed, (ii) the creation of the actual materials (which, once formats etc agreed, is inherently objective and thus very simple to cost and schedule).

sorry - just noted the \'we would need to retain copyright..\

(previous message truncated by the backslashes..) This makes the fee far too low for someone to write a fully bespoke course, and all training materials and a trainer pack, lay everything up and proof, and cede copyright. You might wish to consider requesting a licence for your unrestricted use within your own operation, as an acceptable compromise.

Hi

I just wanted to understand what the outcome of this course is (ie what will successlook like). The subject matter looks very broad and you will only really scratch the surface of the topics in this time(perhaps this is the aim).

However, if you want a specific tangible learning outcome or business benefit/issue addressed then perhaps we would need to look at the key content required so you achieve sufficient depth of topic to be beneficial.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Dear sir/madam

I notice that you have posted for UK providers only. This restricts those who work from an international base within Europe but who are extremely qualified and experienced in providing the training you request.

Will there be a change to this procedure?
